Hubble Directly Images Possible Plumes on Europa.

NASA's Hubble Space Telescope took direct ultraviolet images of the icy moon Europa transiting across the disk of Jupiter. Out of ten observations, Hubble saw what may be water vapor plumes on three of the images. This adds another piece of supporting evidence to the existence of water vapor plumes on Europa - Hubble also detected spectroscopic signatures of water vapor in 2012. The existence of water vapor plumes could provide a future Europa flyby mission the opportunity to study the conditions and habitability of Europa's subsurface ocean.

Preparing America for Deep Space Exploration Episode 14: Fired Up.

NASA is pressing full steam ahead toward sending humans farther than ever before. Take a look at the work being done by teams across the nation for NASA’s deep space human exploration programs, including the Space Launch System, Orion and the Ground Systems Development and Operations Programs, as they continue to propel human spaceflight into the next generation. Highlights from the second quarter of 2016 included the installation of platforms in NASA Kennedy Space Center’s Vehicle Assembly Building in preparation for launch vehicle processing, relocation of the Orion crew module to prepare for propulsion tube welding and the second ground-based qualification test of the Space Launch System’s five-segment booster.

Walk on Mars with Buzz Aldrin!
For a limited time, visitors will have the opportunity to walk on Mars with the Microsoft HoloLens™ mixed reality headset using real imagery from NASA’s Curiosity Mars Rover. Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin will guide visitors on their journey as a hologram on the surface of Mars. Curiosity Mars rover driver Erisa Hines will also appear, leading visitors to the sites of exciting discoveries about the Red Planet. Located in a pop-up theater at the main visitor complex, Destination: Mars will only be available through December 2016.

Liftoff of OSIRIS-REx .

An Atlas V rocket lifts off at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station's Space Launch Complex 41.The mission is to send NASA’s Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification, Security-Regolith Explorer, or OSIRIS-REx spacecraft. This will be the first U.S. mission to sample an asteroid, retrieve at least two ounces of surface material and return it to Earth for study.

Uncertain date. It happens it happens I hope the launch takes place during my stay, but I do not expect it to.
Falcon 9 • SpaceX CRS 10
A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch the 12th Dragon spacecraft on the 10th operational cargo delivery mission to the International Space Station. The flight is being conducted under the Commercial Resupply Services contract with NASA.

Falcon Heavy • Demo Flight.
A SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket will launch on its first demonstration flight. The heavy-lift rocket is formed of three Falcon 9 rocket cores strapped together with 27 Merlin 1D engines firing at liftoff. Delayed from 3rd Quarter of 2015 and April and September 2016.

When Falcon Heavy lifts off it will be the most powerful operational rocket in the world by a factor of two. Thrust at liftoff is equal to approximately eighteen 747 aircraft operating simultaneously.

Rosetta: the end is in sight.

It is just over two years since Rosetta made its rendezvous with comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko and now the end of the mission is in sight. As the spacecraft and the comet head towards Jupiter, Rosetta is getting spectacularly close to the surface - up to three kilometres so far - allowing detailed views of the comet’s cliffs, boulders and plains, as well observing changes since the orbiter’s arrival. A ten tonne boulder, for instance, has moved by 140 metres, most likely due to activity during perihelion, when the comet was at its closest point to the Sun. This video provides an overview of recent events in preparation for the mission’s end on 30 September, when Rosetta will spiral down to a landing site on the head of the duck shaped comet, performing science and taking images along the way.

SpaceX rocket explodes at Cape Canaveral ahead of launch.

SpaceX rocket explodes at Cape Canaveral ahead of launch.
A rocket operated by the aerospace company SpaceX has exploded on the launch pad at Cape Canaveral where it was being test-fired ahead of a launch.
The force of the blast shook buildings several miles away.
SpaceX said "an anomaly" had occurred while the rocket was being loaded with fuel. No-one was injured, it said.
The rocket's payload, an Israeli-built communications satellite for Facebook due to launch on Saturday, was also destroyed, it added.
