The city of Huntsville will hold a press conference early Monday to
announce news related to Sierra Nevada Corporation's Dream Chaser
spacecraft and Huntsville International Airport.
The Chamber of Commerce in Huntsville said representatives with the
city and other stakeholders will be on hand to discuss the announcement
in more detail at 8 a.m. on 225 Church St. N.W. in downtown.
"The Dream Chaser spacecraft is proposed by SNC in the current NASA
competition to supply cargo to the International Space Station," a media
advisory from the Chamber said. "SNC also plans to operate the vehicle
on other missions, tailored to a variety of U.S. and International
Customers."
Many city, Chamber, airport and business leaders in
Huntsville/Madison County will participate in next week's Paris Air
Show, the biggest show dedicated to the aerospace industry worldwide.
Carrie Rice, spokeswoman for the Chamber, declined to provide
additional information Thursday afternoon. City of Huntsville Director
of Communications Kelly Schrimsher said the Sierra Nevada announcement
will be made simultaneously in Paris.
"That's about all of the details we can publicly share in advance of the announcement," she said.
AL.com will update readers when more details are known about the announcement.
