Post launch Status of Space Station Supply Spacecraft.
A briefing was held on March 22 at the Kennedy Space Center to discuss
the status of Orbital ATK’s enhanced Cygnus supply spacecraft, following
its launch to the International Space Station. The Cygnus is delivering
almost 7,500 pounds of science and research, crew supplies and vehicle
hardware to the orbital laboratory. This is Orbital ATK’s fifth
contracted mission to the station under the agency’s Commercial Resupply
Services contract and the second flight to the station of an enhanced
Cygnus spacecraft; with its increased capacity. Dubbed the S.S. Rick
Husband, the spacecraft is a tribute to U.S. Air Force Col. Rick
Husband, commander of space shuttle Columbia’s STS-107 mission, which
was lost during reentry on Feb. 1, 2003.
